Dear Mr. Evans
We were deeply grieved to see from the 'Times' obituary the loss you had sustained in the removal of Mrs. Evans. Though the state of her health for some time past may have prepared you all for the inevitable separation yet now that it has come I well know how keen the loss must be.
I shall always remember Mrs. Evans with feelings of grateful recollection. At a time of considerable anxiety when if she had followed any but the dictates of her own kind heart she might have acted so differently towards us, her truly Xian kindness & consideration made a deep impression upon me which no time can remove.
The memory of so kind & gentle a spirit itself constitutes a treasure & a presence until the "little while" is over and souls are reunited in a happier state.
To your children the loss of so good a mother will hardly be less than your own but I trust you will be comforted & supported in the great sorrow which has fallen on you all.
Without attempting the vain taste of consolation please accept our poor tribute of sympathy. Distance & engrossing work have kept me pretty constantly in Herefordshire but we will not give up the hope of seeing you again before long.
With our united kind remembrances
I am
Yours very sincerely
R. Hyett Warner | |
