 | Stratford-upon-Avon is the town where William Shakespeare was born and died. Every year, millions of people celebrate his life and work by visiting the town.
The RSC has been performing in Stratford for over a century and during that time has performed work with the country's leading actors, directors and theatre professionals to audiences from around the world.
William Shakespeare spent much of his time in Stratford-upon-Avon, growing up, as a playwright and in his later years; and many of the historic buildings which played roles in the playwright's life are now open to visitors.
The Shakespeare family's strong connections with Stratford-upon-Avon have also made the town a natural home for two world-renowned authorities on the life and works of William Shakespeare; the Shakespeare Institute and the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, the custodians of the 'Shakespeare Houses'.
