Warwickshire's Sustainable Community Strategy

Warwickshire County Council has a responsibility under the Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 2007, to produce a countywide Sustainable Community Strategy (SCS).

Prior to 2005, the County Council produced two countywide community plans as a result of extensive consultation and partner engagement. A further plan, the Warwickshire Strategic Partnership Plan was developed but, in the light of the requirement to develop a Local Area Agreement, was never implemented.

The underpinning principles that have led to the development of the Warwickshire SCS have been:
  • Be informed by the current and emerging Community Plans/SCS for each of the 5 Boroughs and Districts
  • Be driven and owned by the Public Service Board
  • Be supportive of and complementary to the Borough/District Community Plans/SCS
  • Be informed by the priorities emerging from the community forums
  • Focus on key strategic partnership issues affecting Warwickshire over the next 10 years
  • Provide the strategic backdrop for the second LAA and its successors

The SCS will consist of three documents. A public facing summary document supplemented by the full version of the SCS itself and a delivery document that will demonstrate how the SCS will be delivered through the LAA.

The SCS / LAA Delivery Document is currently being developed.
