Warwickshire's Sustainable Community Strategy

Warwickshire County Council has a responsibility under the Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 2007, to produce a countywide Sustainable Community Strategy (SCS).

Prior to 2005, the County Council produced two countywide community plans as a result of extensive consultation and partner engagement. A further plan, the Warwickshire Strategic Partnership Plan was developed but, in the light of the requirement to develop a Local Area Agreement, was never implemented.

The underpinning principles that have led to the development of the Warwickshire SCS have been:

Be informed by the current and emerging Community Plans/SCS for each of the 5 Boroughs and Districts
Be driven and owned by the Public Service Board
Be supportive of and complementary to the Borough/District Community Plans/SCS
Be informed by the priorities emerging from the community forums
Focus on key strategic partnership issues affecting Warwickshire over the next 10 years
Provide the strategic backdrop for the second LAA and its successors

The SCS will consist of three documents. A public facing summary document supplemented by the full version of the SCS itself and a delivery document that will demonstrate how the SCS will be delivered through the LAA.
