Warwick Bus Station

Programme of Works

Construction of the Warwick Bus Station is expected to take 26 weeks to complete and will be split into 3 phases as follows:

Phase 1 – Establish and Clear Site

The works comprise:

    1. Pedestrian routes to be defined and signed.
    2. Land to be secured and fenced to ensure the safety of the general public.
    3. Site to be excavated either to the depth required for full carriageway construction (approximately 1m deep) or to the top of significant undisturbed archaeological deposits. This works will be under the supervision of WCC's Archaeologist.
The anticipated duration of Phase 1 is approximately 4 weeks (June to July).

Phase 2 - Archaeological Investigation of the Site

This work will be undertaken by WCC's own specialist contractor and comprise:
    1. Search land for possible Neolithic findings (period of 10,000 years ago).
    2. Any surviving archaeological remains will be mitigated by undertaking an archaeological excavation.
    3. Archaeological features extending below the required construction depth will be preserved by leaving them undisturbed.
The anticipated duration of Phase 2 is approximately 10 weeks (July to September).

Phase 3 - Completion of Warwick Transport Interchange

The works comprise:
    1. Construction of new carriageway and paved areas.
    2. Installation of street lighting, shelters, signing and planting.
The works will require the closure of Puckerings Lane and Market Street for one week each. Six weeks notice will be given and Puckerings Lane and Market Street will not be closed at the same time.

The anticipated duration of Phase 3 is approximately 12 weeks (September to early December).
