My dear Mr. Evans,
We got here safe and sound last night, after a most delightful Tour, and full of thankfulness for all our blessings. The arrival was to have been effected many days ago; but each place in succession has been so fascinating that we have prolonged our time in it until there is but little time left for the last. Charlie snarls a good deal about it; but we promise him better behaviour some future day.
We hope to leave Euston at 12.0 on Friday, halting for one minute at Coventry at 2.25. Edith says it is your day in Coventry; and if you happened to be in the neighbourhood of the station, and could spare a minute, we should be so glad to see you; but as it would be only for a minute, and we know how busy you are, you must please not put yourself to any inconvenience in gratifying us.
If you do meet us, could you please bring in your pocket the paper sent by the Ecclesiastical Commissioners? If you do not come, or we unhappily miss you, I should be much obliged if you would let me have it at Colmore Terrace, Summer Lane, by proof on Saturday morning.
I have seen a whole world of admirable things abroad; but nothing to be compared with the wife whom I took out with me and have now (thank Providence) brought safely back.
Believe me ever
My dear Mr. Evans
Your affectionate son
W. Griffiths
