Why involve children, young people and parents in decision making?
The Legal and policy framework.
The Government want to involve children, young people and parents. Since the passing of the Children’s Act in 2004, there has been growing emphasis on services actively involving children, young people and parents in the commissioning, development and evaluation of services as well as making a positive contribution in decision making to the wider community that they live in. There is a variety of different international legislation that supports the involvement of children, young people and parents including:
United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
Every Child Matters- Change for Children
The Children’s Act 2004
Pupil participation in schools
Parental Participation
