Centralised Composting in Warwickshire

The garden waste collected in your green wheeled bin or taken to your local household waste recycling centre (HWRC) is processed at a number of composting sites throughout and just outside the county, where it is turned into compost.

Centralised Composting

Most of the compost produced is used in agriculture, some is used for restoration of landfill sites (mainly for planting schemes) and a small proportion is sold and bagged through the Apex Composting Scheme.

Composting turns what many of us consider to be rubbish into an extremely useful resource. By composting green waste we are able to dramatically reduce the amount of waste that is sent to landfill, while producing a beneficial product that improves soil quality and enables farmers to be less reliant upon chemically produced fertilisers.
