Poppies in full bloom - Fields on the Nether Whitacre with Shustoke Reservoir walk

"Along the walk we came across a field full of poppies and with the weather being so beautiful I took the attached photo with my mobile phone. One of the organisers, Keith, told us that poppy seeds can lie dormant for up to 20 years before "springing into life" under the right conditions (best when the soil is disturbed or cultivated). He also told us that the Greeks who found them growing wild in their corn fields saw them as an omen of a bountiful corn harvest"

This was taken on the Hampton Lucy Scar Bank walk during the Warwickshire Walking Festival 2007
