Warwick District Council has granted George Wimpey Homes Limited planning permission for a housing development off Vittel Drive in Warwick. A condition of the permission granted calls for the upgrade of the existing signalised junction to include a full pedestrian phase. The scheme was wholly funded by George Wimpey Homes.
The works involved the provision of tactile paving at all pedestrian crossing points to assist the disabled and re-surfacing of the footways in the vicinity of the junction. A new anti-skid road surface has been applied and road markings renewed.
The construction work was carried out under the Local Transport Plan (LTP) annual contract by G McVeigh & Co Construction Limited. The works were completed in early July 2008. For further information on the LTP contract click on the following link Local Transport Plan Contract.
Below is a plan showing the details of the new signalised junction.

On other schemes, there have been instances of traders / contractors approaching local residents offering to tarmac drives. It is not the usual procedure for the Council or its approved contractors to sell surplus material to the members of the public, and anybody claiming to be from the Council and offering to tarmac their drives should be treated with extreme caution. To make a consumer complaint to our Trading Standards Department about these rogue contractors please phone 08454 04 05 06.
