Warwickshire's Local Transport Plan 2006-2011

Warwickshire's second Local Transport Plan (LTP) 2006-11 was published in March 2006 and sets out how the County Council plans to improve transport in Warwickshire over the five year plan period. The plan was adopted by the County Council in March 2006 following a review of the previous Local Transport Plan (2001-06) and extensive consultation with stakeholders and local people during 2005.

In 2006, we produced a short film setting out the context for the Local Transport Plan 2006-11 and highlights what has been achieved over the first 5 year LTP period. The film can be viewed online and there are two different versions of the film available below - one for broadband users and one for those with a dial-up connection. Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA)

The County Council has undertaken a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) as part of the preparation of the provisional Local Transport Plan. This is in accordance with the requirements of European Council Directive 2001/42/EC, as incorporated within the UK under the Environmental Assessment of Plans and Programmes Regulations (2004). This legislation (knowns as the SEA directive) makes it a statutory requirement for all new local transport plans to be subject to an SEA. Countryside Access and Rights of Way Improvement Plan (CAROWIP)
In parallel with the preparation of the Local Transport Plan, the County Council has developed a Countryside Access and Rights of Way Improvement Plan (CAROWIP) for the period 2006-2016. The Plan will guide the work of the County Council in improving the Rights of Way network across Warwickshire for the next ten years.

Transport Asset Management Plan (TAMP)
In parallel with the preparation of the Local Transport Plan, the County Council has produced its first Transport Asset Management Plan (TAMP). The Plan will guide the work of the County Council in maintaining, operating, preserving and enhancing the assets that go to make up the transport network of Warwickshire.

Sustainable School Travel Strategy
In August 2007, Warwickshire County Council published a Draft Sustainable School Travel Strategy. At present the strategy is published as a provisional document pending approval from the County Council. A finalised strategy will be published in 2008 following consultation with schools and other partners.

Delivery of the Local Transport Plan
We are required by the Department for Transport to produce a progress report for delivery of the second Local Transport Plan. The first Progress Report within the second Local Transport Plan period has recently been published and can be accessed by clicking here
