The Minerals Development Framework consists of a number of planning documents. Our Minerals and Waste Development Scheme (MWDS) sets out which planning documents we intend to produce and gives the timescales. The two planning documents that relate to the Minerals Development Framework are the Minerals Core Strategy and the Minerals Site Specific Allocations. We now propose to integrate the Site Allocations within the Core Strategy Document.

Current Position
Following advice prior to submission of the Local Development Framework (LDF) after the preferred Options Stage, there was concern that there would be a requirement to undertake a Strategic Flood Risk Assessment (SFRA)
and include a Strategic Site Allocations in the Core Strategy. Consequently we have gone back a stage and to revisit the Spatial Options and to check our methodology in the light of these changes. A new timetable for the MWDS has been agreed.

In summary we intend to produce a revised Options Consultation Paper which will include potential Strategic Sites by January 2009. Prior to this, in the summer of 2008, we shall be requesting information on which sites should come forward for consideration for allocation.

A Sustainability Appraisal will be undertaken at each stage of the LDF process. This an ongoing and iterative process.

The work we have done to this point will not be wasted. Both the comments from the Issues and Options and Preferred Options stages have been analysed and posted on the website along with our responses. Your views will help to reshape the LDF as we look at the Spatial Options.

***UPDATED*** - We have now produced a Summary Paper to explain how the Minerals Development Framework is progressing since the change to the Minerals and Waste Development Scheme following the completion of the Preferred Options in March 2007. This re-assesses the issues in the light of new policy guidance. This is summarised in a covering letter dated 30th July 2008.

We are now requesting that landowners and developers come forward with potential sites for consideration for allocation in the Minerals Development Framework. These will be included in the Revised Spatial Options Document in January 2009 when further consultation will take place. We are requesting that any sites to be put forward for consideration should be sent to us by October 31st 2008. Alongside the document we have produced a Site Allocation checklist which should be completed if you wish to submit sites for consideration. Any general comments about the Paper can be sent to us via post or email to us at planningstrategy@warwickshire.gov.uk.

Details of the amended timetable are available in the MWDS.

Previous Work
The preliminary consultation on the Minerals Core Strategy ended on 3rd April 2006. The views expressed in this consultation were considered in writing the Minerals Core Strategy Issues and Options paper.

The formal 6 week consultation on the Issues and Options Paper ended on 8th September 2006.
The representations submitted during the 6 week period were used to inform the preparation of the Preferred Options and Proposals Paper. The representations on the Issues and Options paper may be viewed at the Warwickshire County Council Offices. If you wish to view them then please contact us.

The six week consultation period for the Preferred Options paper ended on Wednesday 14 March 2007. You were asked to give your views on the preferred options set out in the paper. To find out more click here.

The comments received during the Preferred Options consultation will inform the preparation of the Submission Document.

Consultation on the Submission Draft paper was due to begin in June 2007. This has now been delayed, as we are required to produce a Strategic Flood Risk Assessment (SFRA) prior to submission. Details of the amended timetable are avaliable in the MWDS.

Work on the Minerals Site Specific Allocations will commence once the policies in the Minerals Core Strategy have been submitted to the Secretary of State for government approval.
