Information for leaders
Around 40 children aged under 11 are killed or seriously injured every week on the roads. As a person who works with children, you are in an ideal position to help them understand the risks, particularly when they are out and about after school.

Our key messages to children of Cub and Brownie age are:-

Smiley ball Use the Green Cross Code: Stop, Look, Listen

Smiley ball Cross the road at the safest place possible

Smiley ball Choose routes that are well-lit by streetlights and cross at well-lit places

Smiley ball Make sure bikes are properly equipped and working

Smiley ball Make sure you can be easily seen, especially at night, or in bad weather

Smiley ball Don't go with strangers

Smiley ball Make sure your parents know where you are going, who with and your time home
