Warwickshire Education Business Partnership's (WEBP's) programmes depend on the support and commitment of local employers. Volunteers from local businesses and other employers are the key to our success, bringing real - world experience to our schools. Our events diary lists the activities in schools throughout the County. If you are available to help out please contact us. Events Diary Spring 2011

Each year we help thousands of Warwickshire students through various activities, which aim to develop their business and enterprise skills. We have also introduced many to Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) and the opportunities these subjects can offer in the world of work.

Currently there a number of skills gap within STEM related careers particularly, in engineering and science roles. STEM is high on the government’s agenda and is doing much to promote these subjects. The WEBP is involved in a number of schemes to promote the wealth of opportunities that are available in the sub region. We are responsible for STEM Ambassadors Management, a contract awarded by STEMNET, to provide STEM Ambassadors, in schools and colleges across Warwickshire and Coventry. This is part of a nationally recognised programme and will compliment this agenda . The aim is for education to engage with STEM employers and professionals from a range of STEM related backgrounds to provide the link between business and schools and colleges.

People from business are uniquely qualified to help us meet that need. We are constantly looking for new employers to support the ever increasing requests from schools for support from the world of work – to put learning into real context. Your skills and experience could be used in a number of ways e.g. Business Simulations, Challenge Days, Practice Interviews, Enterprise Initiatives and hosting student and teacher visits to name but a few. Your commitment is entirely up to you – it could be as little as half an hour, a day or perhaps visits over a few weeks. We would work with you to best suit your business needs.

If you are interested in becoming a STEM Ambassador please contact us ambassadors@warwickshire.gov.uk

WEBP Events are run by experienced team members and business volunteers assist by engaging young people in various ways, for example; facilitating a group, interviewing one to one, presenting to an assembly.

Volunteers can commit as much time as they can give, from a few hours to a full school day. We can work with you to devise flexible arrangements that fit your business needs and we will pay for any training volunteers may need.

How do I volunteer?

Much is already being done but if you would like to help to influence young people to help them make an informed choice about their education route and career please get in touch - call 01926 738960
