Part of any teacher's role, is to keep up with new ideas, repertoire and current thinking that will impact on the way you teach. At CMS, we deliver training for all staff to assist you in your role, but individuals may need more or different knowledge.
This page is to help you find useful web sites that may answer queries, or give you information or let you browse to help you do that. CPD doesn't necessarily mean a list of courses. We all know that people enjoy learning in different ways: and their needs change over time. 'Shadowing' a colleague who has a different job, or one who has experience or skills you wish to gain may be the best way forward for you. For others, the opportunity to share your skills with colleagues will help you develop your skills further as well as others in the CMS team.
If you know any sites that might help colleagues, please email cms@warwickshire.gov.uk

Academic Institutions for Courses, Degrees and QTS
The DFES have published "Routes into teaching Music "which is readable and informative. It covers every stage from pupils in school wanting to find out about working in schools, degrees, teaching experience, supporting music in schools, gaining teacher qualifications for musicians and working in different settings.
It can be ordered by phoning DfES on 0845 60 222 60, or email: dfes@prolog.uk.com. The code number is MUS1/2005.
Birmingham City University and Open University both run part-time PGCE courses for musicians who wish to gain QTS. I have details of these courses. Post Graduate qualifications are usually modular, running through certificates, diplomas and Masters Degree. Many modules are designed for teachers to show and develop their practice to gain further qualifications. |
