 | Commenting on a planning application
The aim of these notes is to help you put forward your views on planning applications and to give you information and advice on how planning applications are decided.
In reaching a decision about a planning application, the Council always takes into account the views of people likely to be affected by the development. You may wish to support an application or suggest amendments to it to overcome any concerns you may have, or raise objections if you consider that it would harm the local environment. In all cases, your comments are welcomed and will be carefully considered.
We accept comments about the application by letter, e-mail or telephone. In any case it is helpful to quote the planning reference number and site address. Your comments should be as clear and concise as possible and state the reasons why you wish to support or oppose the proposed development. Contact us
There is also an option to comment on a planning application when viewing the monitoring progress page of any planning application.
Applications for planning permission are required to be dealt with in accordance with the approved development plan and there is a presumption in favour of development that complies with approved policy. If a proposal is refused permission, the Council always has to give precise and full reasons to the applicant. The Council has to assess the planning issues relevant to the proposal. The following lists give some idea of what can or cannot be taken into account ...
· whether the proposals comply with the Development Plan for the area, ie. the District or Borough local Plan, the Warwickshire Structure Plan, the Minerals Local Plan for Warwickshire and the Waste Local Plan for Warwickshire
· whether the proposed development will create noise, dust, odour or disturbance to local residents through vehicle movements or activities on site
· the visual impact on the rural landscape or any other setting
· the impact of a proposal on property values
· boundary or other legal disputes
· loss of view
· restrictive covenants affecting a property or area of land
