The Strategy
(i) Improve the competitiveness of the Warwickshire Economy
(ii) Provide clear leadership and influence
(iii) Reduce social exclusion and embed sustainable regeneration. | |
It is important that the County Council provides clear leadership within the regional and sub regional economy and exerts influence with our partners. In particular we will:
- work with partners such as the Chamber and CSWP to provide an ‘environmental scanning’ role and lobby on strategic issues affecting the economic vitality of the area
- help shape regional and sub regional strategies and future funding programmes to help maximise external funding for County projects
- ensure unique Warwickshire and sub regional characteristics are recognised as distinct from the rest of the West Midlands
|
- seek to ensure the Council acts as an exemplar in recruitment, skills development and training, working practices and purchasing policies
|
- contribute to a local toolkit to assess and secure added-value from partnership working
|
- ensure our economic performance is benchmarked against the best with a particular focus on the South East – the UK’s ‘engine of growth’
- develop working across the directorates of the County Council to secure additional economic and social benefit and influence other Council led strategies appropriately

 | | | |
- identify and promote best practice in economic regeneration
- ensure effective co-ordination and communicate the support available to business and residents
- secure maximum support through AWM and the European Union as well as other funding opportunities
- ensure a property portfolio to support business development, especially for investment that supports economic diversification and attracts high technology relocations and expansions
- promote and, if appropriate, lead on flagship renaissance projects
