All of the rubbish we cram into our refuse bins is simply taken away to a landfill site, which is basically a big hole in the ground. But the UK is running out of space for landfill sites and we need to find ways to reduce the amount of waste we produce. What can you do at home?
Recycling box
The following items can be recycled in the Guilfoyle's red box:
o Paper and magazines
o Glass bottles and jars
o Medicine bottles
o Metal food and drinks cans and aerosols
o Aluminium foil
o Engine Oil
o Car batteries
o Textiles
o Shoes
Composting
You can Compost food waste (peelings, tea bags, etc – pretty much everything except for meat) in a compost bin. This is a great way to reduce the amount of waste you throw out and over time it will provide you with compost for your garden.
