Air Quality & Transport: Rugby Borough
An AQMA was declared for the whole of the urban area of Rugby in December 2004. The AQMA is bounded by the M6 to the north, the M1 to the east, and the A45 to the south. The actual exceedences of Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2 ) within the urban area occur around the Warwick Street gyratory and on the A426 Newbold Road. There is a small number of receptors affected by the exceedences.
In September 2006, a working group was established to develop anAir Quality Action Plan (AQAP) for the AQMA, including representatives from both the Borough and County Council, and the local bus operator Stagecoach. A draft AQAP was published for consultation in Summer 2007. The final version of the AQAP was approved by the Borough Council's Cabinet in March 2008. Many of the actions in the AQAP are schemes and initiatives that were included in LTP2.
