Student Funding - An Overview

Part Time Funding

Student Finance Direct - Warwickshire

Student Finance Direct - Warwickshire process applications for student support outlined on this page. We administer the awards held by students whose home residence is within Warwickshire

The financial help available to part time students is the same for new and continuing part time students. The available assistance is mean tested on the students income and that of their partner/spouse for the previous financial year. The amount of assistance depends on the percentage of a full time equivalent course the student is studying.

There are two types of non repayable grants available to part time student:

    • Fee grant - to help with the cost of tuition
    • Course grant - to help with study costs i.e. books, materials and travel

    Eligibility Criteria:
To apply for funding, the course must:

    • last at least one year

    • not take more than twice the time it would take to complete an equivalent full time course.

However a student would not qualify for the fee or course grant:

    • if they already have a degree from a UK University or College

    • If they are studying a part time course of Initial Teacher Training (students should apply in the same way as students applying for Full Time assistance. Please click here to find out details of the standard student funding package

    • for more than one part time course at a time.
If the student lives and studies within England, they will receive both income assessed Fee and Course Grant assistance. However different rules apply if they live in England and study in Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland
