The Property division operates in the capacity of landlord for the Council's land and property stock. The vast majority of our work is carried out on behalf of other County Council departments but we also do work for other public services, for example the Police Service, Colleges of Further Education and Foundation Schools.
Our main functions are to maintain the structural integrity of the building stock, to manage new build, adaptations and extensions, and to purchase, dispose and lease land and buildings as required.
The Estates Group is responsible for the purchase, leasing and sale of buildings and land.
The Design and Construction Group are responsible for the project management and design of any major building projects. Like any organisation the Council needs to get planning permission for developing its buildings and sites and this is the Group which will put forward development proposals. It ensures that everything we do is within the legal and corporate framework.
The Property Support Group carries out the maintenance of the Council’s properties. This is best described as the work that a landlord would perform.
