The Warwickshire County Youth Rock and Pop Institute exists to enable around 15 young musicians to perform both rock classics, Indie pop/rock and original music as well as gaining experience on the technical side of rock band rehearsal and performance. Sessions include:

The County Youth Rock & Pop Bands are among several ‘County Performance’ Groups organised by County Music Service, which are recognised to be of a high quality and able to hold their own on the national stage. Annual CPG membership includes:

How to join? Admission is by audition and these are normally held during June/July. Although exceptions can be made, candidates should be between the ages of 14 and 21 (applications from younger, able children will be considered if appropriate) and of a standard equivalent to Grade 6. ![]() | ||||||
What is involved? There are 10 rehearsals each term which take place from 7.00 - 9.00 pm on tuesdays at the Music Workshop, Coten End School site, Warwick CV34 4NP. In addition, players are committed to performing at least three gigs a year (one at the end of each term) and will be expected to take part in the autumn weekend course and any other tours or courses organised by the Band, for which as much notice as possible will be given. Members of the band are expected to attend all rehearsals and concerts, including occasional weekend dates, unless prevented by illness. Any pre-booked commitments must be notified in writing together with acceptance of membership.
