Temporary Structures on the Highway

A permit can only be issued to the company responsible for erecting the scaffold and/or hoarding on the highway.

If you want to erect and use a scaffold or hoarding on the highway you will need to complete an application form.

Postal applications must be completed and returned to the appropriate Area Surveyor at either Coleshill, Rugby or Wellesbourne.

An application form must be completed and returned NOT LESS THAN 3 WORKING DAYS before it is intended to erect scaffolding or hoarding on the highway.

A cheque for £100 should be submitted with the application, unless your Company has been approved for a monthly account.

A licence, if granted, will give details of the required standard of signing and guarding to be provided and the clearances to be maintained on or over the highway. Please note that if a licence is granted the structure must not obstruct access to statutory undertakers equipment and plant.

Public Liability insurance cover of not less than £5,000,000 is required and we request evidence that such insurance is in force.
