 | The 16-page website will tell visitors anything they want to know about the historic coaching and market town situated in the heart of rural Warwickshire, from the identity of Southam’s twin town to disabled facilities. The group, which meets every few weeks, consists of four sections:
- Promotions and marketing
- Business forum
- Accessibility forum
- Civic pride
One of the website promoters, Tony Lorimer, said: “The website is geared to publicise Southam’s history, shops, businesses, schools and local council. Southam has plenty of facilities from a tourism point of view so we are producing a visitors’ leaflet and a map with beauty spots.”

County Council Regeneration Project Officer, Jackie Hart, said: “Historically, market towns like Southam have acted as focal points for commercial, economic and social activity. However, in the past 30 years, many of these functions have been undermined by social, industrial and agricultural change.
“In a bid to reverse this decline, the last four years have seen a fresh national focus to revitalise these rural service centres. As part of the Warwickshire Market Towns Initiative, a partnership has been developed which led to the creation of Vision4Southam.”
Partners include Warwickshire County Council, Stratford District Council and Southam Town Council and local residents.
Anyone interested can attend the next full forum meeting of Vision4Southam on Thursday 19 June at 7.30pm or visit the website at http://warkcom.net/visitsoutham |
