Teaching and Learning
If you are teaching or studying we can offer support for many disciplines including:
Art and Design
You can view artwork exhibited in illuminated manuscripts and pedigrees, with their heraldic displays. Study the use of design in early maps and surveys, and peruse our collections of prints and photographs.
Citizenship
Business records and the requirements of the workforce, and manorial records, with their ‘customs of the manor’ for tenants and the lord of the manor, allow us to study what it meant down the years to belong to a social organisation. And Quarter Session court papers highlight the consequences of not living within the laws of the land. Social care can also be explored through the use of Poor Law Union and 19th century County Lunatic Asylum records.
Geography
We hold maps, plans and land surveys covering a span of four centuries. We can also provide population statistics from the 19th and 20th centuries.
History
From the medieval period to post 2nd World War, our records help shed light upon social changes and changes occurring in the landscape of Warwickshire.
History - local
School records, census material, parish records, photographs and maps are all available here to study and use as part of your teaching or learning.
Languages
We can provide students and teachers with examples of historic records written in Latin, French and German. Historical records also demonstrate how the English language, spelling and handwriting has developed down the centuries.
Useful Websites
