 | Using the Reading Group Collection
“An accidental tourist has a small death in Lisbon en route to Timbuctoo.” No this isn’t a clue in a cryptic crossword – it’s three book titles from our Reading Groups Collection, available free to all Reading Groups in Warwickshire. There are multiple copies of contemporary paperbacks available free of charge.
For more information about our service for Reading Groups and a list of available titles contact any library. |
Our Reading Groups Collection is for you! – what you get:
- A special group ticket.
- Tailored collections of books, consisting of multiple copies (10-15 books)
- Free requests for books being read by your group on your Reading Group ticket.
- Stationery to help you set up a system for issuing books within your group.
- Every library has a local contact who will liase with you.
How to get a ticket:
- One person needs to be the named contact – responsible for what is borrowed on the group card, and who will provide details of titles required.
- The named person should bring their own library card when enrolling the group.
- If you are not already a library member, bring two forms of identification: one with name & address & one with signature.
- We’ll keep the card at the home library of the named contact.
Choosing titles:
- Choose from our Reading Group Collection list – we’ll give you this on joining
- If you prefer titles not on this list, we will supply as many copies as we can although availability may be limited - there may well be a waiting list for popular or newly published titles.
- Give your home library a list of titles & dates when the books are needed, as far in advance as possible as the service is very popular! – if those titles are not available we will provide a substitute.
Collecting books:
- We’ll tell you when your latest title is ready for collection.
- The named contact collects the books and has them issued onto the group card. Any one else who collects the books should bring a letter of authorisation from the named contact.
- The named contact or authorised person should show some identification when collecting books.
How you can help us:
- Please return items on time as another group may want this title.
- Order titles well in advance - some titles are very popular & have a waiting list.
- Provide us with a list of alternative titles in case your original selection is unavailable.
- Fill in the review form supplied with each collection – feedback on the titles we have chosen for the collection is useful in helping us develop the collection.
- Suggest new titles for the collection - each year we add new titles & we welcome your suggestions.
