security for your library transactions... protect your personal details...

Why Have a PIN?

Your Library PIN gives you extra security when you access your Borrower Account on the Library catalogue, and helps to stop anyone else finding out your personal details or misusing your account

What Is Your PIN?
It is either:
  • the first four letters of your surname (or less if your name is shorter) if you joined the library before the 21st of September 2007 or;
  • your date of birth using 8 digits (ddmmyyyy) if you joined on or after the 21st of September 2007.
Changing Your PIN
To improve the security of your information change your PIN to a combination of numbers and / or letters (up to 8 characters) that only you know.

To do this go to the Library Catalogue and select 'My Account'. Enter your lIbrary card number and PIN. Select 'Sign In' and follow the on-screen instructions.

You can request your PIN to be emailed to you from 'My Account' or see a member of staff, who will reset it to your date of birth.

Your PIN and Using the Library Computers
You normally need your PIN to use the computers at your library . There will be space for your Library Card number and PIN on the computer screen.

You do not need your PIN if you have booked your Internet session in advance or staff have assisted you in beginning your session.

Your PIN and Booking a Computer Online
You will also need your PIN when booking a session over the Internet, using the Book a Library PC service.

Your PIN and Using My Account In the Library Catalogue
You need your PIN to view your current loans and requests, personal details, outstanding payments, and to request an item online.
