Independent Home Care Agencies
If you are thinking about arranging your own home care, perhaps because you do not qualify for our help at the moment, it is a good ideas to ask any agencies you approach the following questions.
- How much do you charge?
- Are there different rates for weekends/evenings?
- Are there any extra charges i.e. for the carer's travelling expenses?
- What sort of services do you provide?
- Will somebody visit me before the service starts?
- If you provide me with a service, can I contact you out of office hours? If so, how?
- Are your carers trained?
- Do you take up references on your carers?
- Are you registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC)?
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) maintains information on registered Independent Home Care Agencies listed in their Services Directory under Domiciliary Care Agencies.
Warwickshire Partners in Care is an external site, produced in co-operation with Warwickshire County Council and Warwickshire NHS Primary Care Trust, gives useful guidance about independent home care agencies.
