From 31st March 2008 changes were made to local authority parking enforcement and the penalties you may receive for contravening any parking regulations.
Decriminalised Parking Enforcement (DPE) will become Civil Parking Enforcement (CPE) and, although ‘Parking Attendants’ will still do the same job, of encouraging people to park responsibly. Their title will change to ‘Civil Enforcement Officer’ (Parking).
As currently, the same penalty band will apply whether a vehicle has been parked incorrectly in an off street car park, or in an on-street location.
Two new levels of penalty are to be introduced to ensure that parking enforcement is ‘Firmer but Fairer’.
