TIPD Gambia Visit - Photographs
Details
A group of teachers and education officers visited the Gambia in February 2004 to look at "climate change and sustainable development".
Why The Gambia?
The Gambia is one of the ten countries considered most at risk from climate change. This visit followed previous successful study visits between 1998 and 2003, which developed a strong partnership between Tide~ and the country’s National Environment Agency.
“Africa as a whole contributes about 3% of global greenhouse gas emissions. South Africa contributes half of this. The USA contributes 25% of the global emissions. The Gambia is responsible for 0.000.... % of greenhouse gas emissions and yet is one of the most to suffer. There is an unwillingness from the developed countries to change lifestyles.”
- Bubu Jallow, Director of Water Resources, The Gambia
