| Community Arts | |
| The County Arts Service has a small Community Arts team who work in partnership with communities and organisations to provide Warwickshire residents with high quality participatory arts opportunities. What is Community Arts? Community Arts (also known as participatory arts) is a creative process lead by an artist who is known as a ‘Community Arts Practitioner’. Community Arts practitioners are knowledgeable, skilled and experienced in working with a wide range of communities, and have an understanding and empathy for their varying needs. Community Arts can include working with groups such as: young people, adults with physical disabilities, inter-generational groups from housing estates and older people with dementia. Underpinning Community Arts Practice is the aim to engender positive change, authorship and ownership. Community Arts Practitioners’ work with groups developing arts and creative skills which can be employed to: develop personal and social skills; explore ideas and raise awareness of local issues, etc. Community Arts practice is used in many settings such as: youth clubs, after school clubs (non-curriculum related), health & well-being settings (GP surgeries, hospitals and health centres) and community centres. |
