	This page is part of the archive of community profiles and was written in September 2004. LETS stands for Local Exchange Trading Systems. A LETS system is a multi-choice bartering system. It allows local people to receive all kinds of goods and services from one another without the need to spend money. Stratford LETS group has been in existence now for about ten years. Absolutely anyone can join - Business or voluntary groups or individuals, young and old alike and everyone in-between. The LETS system values the many skills that each of us has to offer.
	When you join you become a member of a non-profit making organisation. Members are able to get around the problem of traditional barter - that the offers and wants of two people wishing to trade do not always match. By using the directory of goods and services members can make contact and earn credits with one another. The directory is updated and published regularly. Whether you have a skill or not your time, energy or resources will be of value to someone. Stratford LETS have a whole page on their new website outlining some of the services that you may be able to offer. You can visit their new website at www.warkcom.net/stratfordlets Apart from the members directory and offers lists there is a monthly newsletter in which members can advertise their immediate offers and requests free of charge. For example if you have a cupboard that you want to get rid of then you can advertise it in the newsletter (Free of charge) stating how many Do-It's you want for the cupboard. This years LETS AGM is being held on Tuesday 28th September 2004 at the WRVS Hall at 7.30pm. There will be trading going on for members if they wish to trade. 	"BALLAD OF THE DO-ITS" This is the mat the Peggy made and sold it for Do-it's to Jane who paid By feeding the cat that was kept by Bill Who cleaned the car when John was ill. So John got up and babysat for Meg who then made Peg a hat. And so the Do-it's paid by each Helped all to find things out of reach.
