Whittleford Park - from Bricks to Nature
History is all around

Decorative Brickwork from one of the local brickyards in stockingford which can be seen on many local older homes built during the late 1800's and early 1900's. These buildings are a contrast to the very plainly build homes that make up Camp Hill Estate, built in the 1950's to house the mining community, many of which now, in 2007, are being dfemolished to make way of new homes. The decorative bricks shown here are to be found on homes in Eadie Street, Church Road and arbuy Road, Stockingford, Nuneaton. Otyher designs can be seen in Haunchwood Road and on several older properties in Manor Court Road, Earls Road and many streets in and on the edge of town



The elaborate bricks used for the decorative outstanding course of brickwork is called the Sailor Course and can be seen below the guttering on many very old houses. Examples can be found in Eadie Street and Church Road, Stockingford and on old houses throughout Nuneaton town. The variety and intricacy of these courses gives the homes and individuality and distinctiveness
