Resource Efficiency
Strategic Objective:
To reduce greenhouse gas emissions through better waste management, including waste minimisation and increased recycling, more efficient use of resources and more environmentally-aware procurement including infrastructure.
Resource efficiency is about getting the most out of finite resources and minimising waste, from the beginning of the product life cycle until the very end. Resource efficiency looks at choosing products that will have the least impact on the environment, from their production, through to their use and final disposal.
It includes the wise use of resources, such as energy and water, and also aims to reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill by encouraging reuse and recycling first. There are lots of local projects looking at resource efficiency. Use the navibars on the left to navigate your way around the various case studies, action plan and publications.
