Dear Mrs. Stebbing,
On my return here this evening I find the Courier which I guess has been sent by you. Mr. Stebbing's address is excellent and most readable - humourous, brisk, to the point, and written in a dignified spirit. I am sorry that I am of so little use to the Literary Society as I am so much away from Tunbridge Wells and one requires to be constantly on the spot to be an effective member of a Committee.
With best regards, Yours very truly,
J. W. Cross
