Becta has developed a strategic vision in relation to the management and delivery of ICT to support teaching and learning in schools and colleges over the next five years. The National Digital Infrastructure (NDI) model that Becta has devised comprises four integral service elements of data management, infrastructure, connectivity and learning environments. This model complements and is in alignment with the focus of the ICT Development Service to provide support, training and advice in the area of ICT school strategy, e-learning and school management to help raise standards in teaching and learning.
An essential element of the NDI, is the provision of Broadband. Broadband connections are an essential requirement for all schools that subscribe to We-Learn. Our service provides and maintains the necessary communication circuits and associated equipment to provide your Broadband connection to the National Education Network. The connection filters unsuitable content and provides firewall protection and access control, detection and quarantine of viruses. Software is also available from the ICT Development Service to help you monitor inappropriate use by pupils to enforce e-safety
