The Environment Agency issues flood warnings to properties at risk of flooding from main rivers. Local Authorities, the Emergency Services, utilities and local radio stations are also informed when flooding is expected. Warnings are issued using what is known as the Flood Warnings Direct system, which can send a warning directly to your telephone, mobile, fax or pager. If you would like to register for the Flood Warnings Direct system please contact Floodline on 0845 988 1188. The Environment Agency’s new public flood warning service went live at the end of November 2010. They have changed their flood codes to make them easier to understand and more visible. There are three types of warning which give clearer guidance about what action people need to take. For further information on the changes please see New Public Flood Codes 2010 (PDF - 434 KB) Real time flood warning information for your area, can be obtained via the Environment Agency: | |||||
