| Nursery Funding (formerly Warwickshire Nursery Education Funding): Although parents do not have to send their children to nursery, it is government policy to enable every child to have access to free early years education before they start school. If your child does not already have a place at a ‘free’ local authority nursery class or school, you may be entitled to claim Nursery Funding. Nursery Funding for Summer Term 2010 At the moment this means that children are entitled to attend up to five free educational sessions per week at a nursery or pre-school that is registered for Nursery Funding, or with an accredited registered childminder from the Nursery Funding term after they have reached three years of age. Once you have secured a place for your child at a nursery or pre-school, they will make the claim on your behalf when your child is eligible. The funding is paid directly to the nursery in two half payments each term by Warwickshire Local Authority to provide ‘free’ nursery education places. Parents should not be asked to pay for these sessions in advance and claim the funding back afterwards. They should be free at the point of use. The nursery funding currently provides for up to five 2½ hour nursery education sessions per week. Contact Warwickshire Family Information Service on 0845 090 8044 for details of Nursery Funded registered settings in your local area. ![]() Changes to Nursery Funding As part of their "Choice for Parents: A 10 Year Strategy" the DCSF have made the following commitments:
