| Hunters Lane Re-opening |
We are pleased to inform you that Hunters Lane Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) was re-open to the public following its total refurbishment on Tuesday 18th March 2008.
The newly revamped HWRC will offer improved facilities for the residents of Rugby and has been designed to ensure it can meet current and future recycling needs.
Users of the new site should be aware that there is now a one-way system in place and should look out for the signs directing them to the recycling areas. The new recycling store which will be run by or on behalf of a charitable organisation will open later on in the year.
New recycling centre constructed using recycled materials
The Hunters Lane HWRC has been rebuilt using nearly 7500 tonnes of recycled material from the following sources. |
- The foundations of the new HWRC have been constructed using over 2000 tonnes of rubble from the old site.
- Around 5400 tonnes of rubble arising from the re-development of nearby Avon Valley school has been recycled and used in the redevelopment.
The use of recycled materials on site not only saved a considerable amount of valuable material from being sent to landfill, but also reduced the overall amount of raw materials needed to develop the new HWRC.
