Based in Warwick at Warwickshire Museum Field Services in The Butts, the Field Archaeology Projects Group undertakes all kinds of archaeological research in Warwickshire and neighbouring counties for a mixture of public sector and private clients. During 2009 work took place at about 75 sites and involved a mixture of desktop assessments, historic building recording, fieldwalking and earthwork survey, site evaluations, archaeological excavations, and salvage recording and watching briefs.

Under the direction of the County Archaeologist, the Group employs twelve core staff, a principal field archaeologist, an archaeological operations manager, three archaeological project managers, two project officers, two archaeological illustrators and three senior field technicians. Other excavation staff are employed as necessary and volunteer help is always welcome. The Warwickshire Museum has carried out excavations around Warwickshire since the 1960s and collectively the Group offers unrivalled expertise in the archaeology of Warwickshire.

Much of the work carried out results from the requirements of the planning process, and the Group aims to offer a high quality service to developers requiring archaeological work at competitive rates. Current and recent clients include English Heritage, Warwick Castle Ltd, Transco plc, Severn Trent Water Ltd, Cemex Ltd, Smiths Concrete, Ennstone Johnston, Coventry University, Coventry City Council, Stratford District Council, Warwick District Council, Warwickshire County Council Resources - Property and Economy and Environment Departments.

Warwickshire Museum Field Services are an Institute for Archaeologists Registered Archaeological Organisation.
