Services For Older People
Care Homes for Older People

When we carry out an assessment of your needs we will consider with you whether you can still be supported safely in your own home. If not, we will advise if a move to a care home is your best option. We will give advice on the type of care home that will best meet your needs - this could be a residential home or a home that provides nursing care. Sometimes the home might need to provide a specialist service - for instance, for people suffering from dementia. If you have support of family or friends they will be able to help you choose a home. We can help them find out about homes, vacancies and prices.

There are many homes in Warwickshire and information about them and vacancies can be found at www.wpic.co.uk.

All homes have to be registered by the Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI) and lists for local areas can be found in the CSCI Services Directory.

Some homes are run by Warwickshire County Council, others are run by private proprietors or voluntary organisations.

If we agree to fund your place, you will be able to state your preferred home. Each year the we agree how much we will pay for Care Home places so if your chosen home will cost more than this, there would need to be someone who can pay the additional amount. Sometimes there will not be a vacancy in the home you have chosen, and you may be asked to consider another home initially, especially if you have been receiving care in hospital and your bed is needed to enable other people with urgent needs to be treated.

If you are thinking of doing this the websites above will be of use to you. You will not however be able to consider a Warwickshire County Council home without completing an assessment with one of our Adult Social Care Teams.
