What is Help on Call?

What happens in an emergency?
The emergency alarm system has an in built device for summoning assistance. Upon activation of an emergency button, either on the alarm unit or via a pendent button worn around the neck of the user. The alarm unit automatically communicates with our Control Room where our trained staff are ready to deal with the call.

The alarm unit is provided with an amplifier which allows the user to talk to one of our Control Room operators without lifting your telephone handset. Upon installation of the emergency unit, the Fire and Rescue Service agree with the customer a minimum of two telephone contact numbers:
  • Friends
  • Family
  • Neighbours
These contacts will be used on activation of the alarm. If there is no response from the user or a nominated contact, the Fire Service will automatically attend.

Fast response control centre - professional help
On actuation of the alarm an alert call goes to one of the most advanced control centres in the country. It is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The control centre is based in Warwickshire and is operated by professionals who are able to provide the fastest response to emergency calls.

Warwickshire Fire and Rescue are used to dealing with emergency situations and unlike any other helpline services, Help on Call is operated from inside your area, so we have unique local knowledge, which means we provide the quickest response to emergency situations.
