“We work in partnership with Arup and Carillion to keep traffic moving safely in and through the county, maintaining our roads, streetlights, bridges and vehicles in good order, and so improving the quality of life for residents and visitors.”
The Council is required to maintain all roads in Warwickshire except motorways and trunk roads. Our maintenance activities include maintenance and improvement to over 3700km (2,300 miles) of highways including footways, 600 bridges and 47,000 street lights. Additionally we maintain more than 200 sets of traffic signals and co-ordinate all road works carried out by utilities (gas, water, etc).
Our aim in relation to Transport planning and delivery is to improve traffic flow, limit congestion, reduce road casualties and ensure affordable transport is available for those without cars.
We provide public transport to meet social need (over 2.3m passenger journeys), schools transport (approximately half a million pupil trips a year), the promotion of sustainable transport, traffic regulation and casualty reduction, highway design and construction. | |
