Talisman Square Development - Traffic Consultation

Traffic Regulation Orders for the scheme have now been advertised.

Results of the consultation between February/March 2007 indicated the public felt Option 3 was the most appropriate scheme. Amendments have been made as a result of comments from members of the public during the consultation period.

History of Project

In Mid 2006 Warwick District Council granted planning permission to Colbalt Estates Ltd to redevelop Talisman Square, Kenilworth. The plans include a Waitrose supermarket, smaller shops and 12 flats. It is proposed to increase parking from 154 spaces to 312 and funds are available for local highway improvements. Construction started on May 2008 and are due for completion late July/August.

It was inevitable that the new development would increase the amount of car and pedestrian traffic in the roads around Talisman Square. The traffic problems caused as a result of the development had to be resolved by improvements to the highway.

Three different options were developed by the County Council, in conjunction with key Kenilworth organisations, including ROCK, Kenilworth Town Council, Kenilworth Chamber of Trade and The Kenilworth Town Centre Partnership. All three options are designed to manage any negative local impacts of increased traffic flows.

Whilst looking at the three options it is important to bear in mind that the proposals for the redevelopment of Talisman Square have been finalised and can't be altered. This consultation cannot deal with the wider traffic management and parking issues within the town. Only changes that are a result from the redevelopment are being considered here.
