Building Sustainable Neighbourhoods

Building Sustainable Neighbourhoods (BSN) is a community regeneration initiative, that works with community groups in the disadvantaged communities of Nuneaton and Bedworth to support them achieve their aspirations. The programme is funded by Warwickshire County Council.

The team is able to work with community groups, social enterprises and other voluntary organisations to support and facilitate projects in their communities.

BSN's eight key objectives are:

Support local people in actively working together to develop, manage and run local initiatives that tackle identified problems in their local community.
Enhance the ability of local communities to access local services and opportunities.
Improve existing community facilities that are currently under-used and develop their use by the whole community.
Support local groups who aim to tackle environmental deterioration within their local community.
Improve partnerships and networking between groups in local communities and throughout the borough.
Work in partnership with statutory and voluntary organisations for effective project delivery.
Establish resource centres for service delivery at neighbourhood level, bringing information and service providers together, ensuring vital services are made available locally for people to access.
Encourage and support local employment opportunities and pathways into employment including volunteer opportunities.
BSN's work compliments and supports the Sustainable Community Strategy, the Community Forums and the Narrowing the Gaps agenda through supporting initiatives that benefit local people.

BSN is currently working along two core themes: Environmental Action and Planning Ahead. Managed by Warwickshire County Council BSN is a partnership project and has worked with over fifty different groups in the area to deliver increased opportunities and improved quality of life for people living within Nuneaton and Bedworth.
