Welcome to Race Equality |
 |
| Mark Gore - Head of Service, Education Partnerships & School Development, Children, Young People and Families Directorate
Race equality is an important part of the work of the Education Partnerships & School Development Service within Warwickshire Local Authority. The new Race Relations Amendment Act puts local authorities under a specific duty to deliver services in a culturally appropriate way and to employ a diverse workforce.
The MacPherson report into the death of Stephen Lawerence also highlighted the presence of racial harassment and institutional discrimination. |
We need to raise the awareness of Local Authority officers and teachers in Warwickshire's schools to ensure that all students have a safe working environment and are helped to achieve their potential. The work of the InterCultural Curriculum Support Service [ICSS], County Music Service [CMS] and Arts Zone are all helping students appreciate the creativity offered by living in diverse societies.
Education has a pivotal role to play in helping students appreciate that diversity [in all respects e.g. gender, age, race, sexuality, disability etc.] is enriching. All students are entitled to learn about diverse people so that wherever their future professional and personal lives take them, they have developed a sense of respect, curiosity and integrity about those who are different from them.
Join us on this exciting journey of discovery.....
