Small Highway Improvement Schemes (LTP Contract) |

The Local Transport Plan (LTP) five year plan sets out an ambitious programme of improvements to the highway infrastructure for the County. We have worked in partnership with Arup to design and construct highway improvement schemes. Arup specialists have assisted with contract preparation, while a number of engineers work within the Highway Design Section helping us to work effectively towards our targets within the current term contract. The contractors for the current term contract is shared between Carillion Highway Maintenance Limited, who are based in Coleshill, and G McVeigh & Co Limited, based in Stratford upon Avon.
An integrated team within the Highways Group is responsible for implementing small highway works for the Local Transport Plan. This is carried out using an innovative term framework contract which has the primary aim of progressing a large number of small to medium sized schemes to site within a very short time scale. A further aim is to develop partnering with the Contractors involved.
The work carried out under the contract consists of road safety and accident reduction schemes, quality bus routes, up-grading existing traffic signal equipment and providing new signalised pedestrian crossing or junction control systems, small highway improvements, environmental enhancement projects, providing and improving facilities for pedestrians and cyclists. The majority of these works are funded directly by the County Council.
