Welcome to Warwickshire County Council

A Strategic Plan for Warwickshire 2002 - 2005

This is the first community strategy for the county of Warwickshire. Its overriding aim is to improve the quality of life of Warwickshire people and to do this by ensuring that a whole range of public agencies work together.

It has been produced by a wide range of agencies, including all six local councils, the Police, the Health Authority, the Learning and Skills Council, employers’ representatives, the Connexions Service, the Employment Service, Benefits Agency, voluntary agencies, representatives from further and higher education and many others.

The plan was drawn up after extensive public consultation carried out as part of the community planning process in each of the five areas of the county. It builds on and is consistent with the five local community plans which were produced over the last twelve months. It is also consistent with a whole range of strategic plans produced in each of the agencies represented.

The plan sets out a vision for Warwickshire for the year 2010 and identifies targets we intend to achieve by 2005 to make progress towards this vision. It focuses on those things done best at county level and is built around eight major themes identified by county residents as being most important. These are:
  • Education and Lifelong Learning
  • Health and Well-being
  • Crime and Community Safety
  • Economy and Employment
  • Transport
  • The Environment
  • Community Involvement
  • Information and Access to Services
