Housebound Service
The service is for people of any age who are unable to visit the library and whose friends and relations are unable to do this for them.
The following libraries provide a housebound service:

Rural Housebound Service
The Rural Housebound Service is separate to the Housebound Service and is run using volunteers.
It covers the areas of Warwickshire that the Housebound Service does not. Again the service is for people who are unable to get to the library and whose friends and relations are unable to change books for them.

Would You Like to Help?
The Rural Housebound Service is always looking for new volunteers to help maintain the service and our volunteers give different levels of input ranging from one day a month to a few hours a week.
There are a number of ways that you could help:
- Book Selection: Spend a few hours in an afternoon using selection sheets to choose books, talking books, music cassettes and jigsaws to suite individuals tastes. This is perfect for someone who enjoys solving a puzzle (crime books with no murder.)
- Stock Maintenance: you will receive training and materials to give you the skills to maintain the appearance of our stock. We will teach you to replace loose pages, protect book covers and basic spine repairs. We are also always looking for someone to test and repair our talking book cassettes (training is available) This can be a rewarding role for the right applicant and would suit someone who enjoys practical work.
- Visiting/Driving: Volunteers are provided with a small Daihatsu van to go out visiting housebound people across Warwickshire and it is not necessary to be able to drive as volunteers always go out in pairs. Routes vary, as some people will like to have a chat while others see the visit as a delivery. This role would suit someone with good communication and personal skills.
If you would like to help please contact Debbie Sly at Kenilworth Library.
