Access to the information is normally free to the public, students and other researchers, although a charge based on hourly rates is made for commercial enquiries.

GLRC Information about Sites |
The Record Centre currently incorporates nearly 1,800 sites, each one illustrated on a series of Geological Survey Maps at 1:10,000 scale. Sites are cross-referenced to a series of indexes where details relating to the age and type of site, any statutory or non-statutory status and the scientific interest is recorded.
The number of records is continually increasing and range from the huge quarries along the Nuneaton Ridge to small but important exposures of sand and gravel in stream banks. Some sites may have been only temporary exposures created during civil engineering projects, some are borehole records while others are records extracted from nineteenth century publications which refer to features buried long ago. All these types of information are equally important to those researching the geology of the County, particularly in areas of little present day exposure. The GLRC covers all geological periods found in Warwickshire.
Major sources of data include an extensive library of early journals, papers and other publications, maps and photographs. |
