Whittleford Park - from Bricks to Nature
Dear Teacher/Scout Leader/Guide Leader/Youth Officer

Whittleford Park: From Bricks to Nature

I would like to introduce you to this fabulous new sculpture heritage trail which has recently been installed at Whittleford Park, Nuneaton to celebrate both the historical legacy of the site, and its current natural heritage. It is now a wonderful park for all to enjoy.

Whittleford Park used to be home to the Haunchwood Brick and Tile Works, Number 1 Yard, and has hidden in its greenery, a rich history of how life used to be for the residents of Nuneaton.

To complement the heritage trail, a unique website has been created to provide additional information on the old brickworks and educational resources and activities for children. This is so that children have an opportunity to actively engage in learning about the park. its historical legacy and that it is a free open space for all the community to enjoy.

Information available includes Background information on the site especially formulated for teachers and group leaders and The Interactive Heritage Trail Map which contains links to pages containing DVD clips explaining the Haunchwood Brick and Tile Works by a former employee and activity sheets which are free to download along with a free fun quiz to try. Also included for your ease is a list of interpretation points and activities to help you navigate the webpages more efficiently when lookin for something specific.

You may also find it useful to take your class/group on a free guided walk around the site, if you would like to take this opportunity up, please contact:-
Helena Lidgate
Countryside Park Officer
Nuneaton & Bedworth Borough Council
